Joshua Blakeslee received his B.S. in biology from Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA, in 1999. He received his Ph.D. in Horticulture at Purdue University in 2005 (advisor, Prof. Angus Murphy), focusing on mechanisms of auxin transport. During four years of post-doctoral training in the lab of Prof. Alison DeLong at Brown University, Dr. Blakeslee initiated a new project determining the role of lipid signaling molecules in regulating protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) activity and downstream stress responses.
Dr. Blakeslee joined the Horticulture and Crop Science Department at Ohio State in 2011, where his laboratory is investigating the biochemical physiology of plant adaptive responses to the environment. This research is focused on three primary areas: 1. Determining the role of lipid signaling molecules in regulating phosphorylation cascades following abiotic stress; 2. Adaptive regulation of auxin and organic acid transport following stimulus; and 3. Environmental regulation of sterol/terpenoid metabolism.
