On Friday, April 15th the Translational Plant Sciences Graduate students had the opportunity to meet Dr. George Wang, recipient of the Young Alumni Achievement Award given by the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Wang is being honored for his work as co-founder and director of SIRUM, a non-profit organization that serves the community by allowing health facilities, manufacturers, wholesalers, and pharmacies to donate unused medicine rather than destroy it. This medicine is then safely distributed to clinics who provide patients with medicine that is otherwise unafforable.
